The Blogoclump

August 19, 2009

Sorry to those few folks who still read the Blogoclump feed (looks like still around 90 people using it), but it looks like the third-party service I was using to aggregate feeds has been hacked and lots of other random stuff being pulled in. I am probably just going to let the clump die its [...]

John Hughes, RIP

August 7, 2009

“Dear Mr. Vernon: We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong, but we think you’re crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see [...]

Finalized plans for Paris vacation this fall. Now looking ahead to spring 2010, and trying to choose between Spain and Italy. Barcelona or Rome? Any thoughts? Commenters helped me choose Prague this past spring, and it was fantastic, so thought I’d ask again!

Instant Digital Edition

July 21, 2009

I stumbled across this a couple weeks ago — if you ever want to create one of those “digital editions” of a print publication on the fly, this incredibly easy program simply imports a pdf and creates a nifty flash book complete with an elegant interface and swooshing page flip sounds. For around $260 American, it’s a [...]

Pretending Something Matters

July 13, 2009

Interesting op/ed in the NYT today on the faux Google vs. Microsoft battle — made even moreso by today’s Microsoft announcement about an online version of Office.

I don’t usually link to comments I make on other blogs, but I’m going to link to this one, because I think it’s an important conversation.
