I’m trying to decide between Paris or Prague for my spring vacation. Any thoughts?

My vote is for Prague – by far one of my favorite cities I’ve visited. An amazing place, and different, in my opinion, than many of the other European cities I’ve visited. :)

Love them both, but I recommend Prague. It’s younger, less expensive, and a western civ experience all rolled up in one. You will meet more people from more countries than in most any other place and really know you’ve been overseas. Don’t know how extensively you’ve traveled in the former HRE, but you will get a different take on history here. Be sure to find the Mucha Museum early in your visit to better appreciate the city’s Art Nouveau architecture. Free music every night. Great food. One of the most beautiful central squares in the world. Go, go, go.
Cheers Ann O

Have never been to either… but I say, when facing a choice, go with the less obvious.

Having been to both let m suggestion that iit depends on the kind of experience you are seeking.

One is less expensive.

Both have strong culture, good architecture, good food – and are in political and economic transition

One will cost more and have more visitors.
That same one is more accustomed to Americans

Both will be happier to see you this year than pre-Obama.

Paris. Most romantic place on earth, and endless options of things to see/do. Prague is also beautiful, and much less expensive (or was 2 years ago). If you go to Prague, we used a fantastic and reasonably priced private tour guide our first two days (Sarka – you could google her). And be sure to see the (John) Lennon Wall near Charles Bridge.

Depends on the experience you are looking for and have you been to either already?

Paris in Spring is hard to pass up–the food, the gardens, the food…

But Prague is one of my favorite cities and I would definitely go back. Was only able to spend 3 days there on my first visit and would love to see more of the countryside as well as spend more time exploring the city. It will be cheaper to visit. The people were very friendly, lots of culture in the tourist sites and simply roaming the streets and small shops. The city has a great vibe overall. I vote Prague.

Thanks, everyone, I really appreciate your thoughts! Have been to neither — intend to go to both, at some point — just a question of which to visit first. Right now, leaning toward Prague.

Okay — done deal. Prague in April. I’ll do Paris in the fall. :) For those of you who have been to Prague, any additional insights into what not to miss that I might otherwise miss from the guidebooks, I would sure appreciate it! Thanks again for your help!

Prague! : )

And a good tour guide helps a lot to discover the city. My recommendation goes to Martina,
