Just a Quick Thought

I saw that ASAE is launching a new healthcare association conference. Perhaps they should consider adding a trade/business association conference as well.

Consumer groups (they’re associations, too) should be included in that conference. It would provide a more balanced view of the field, highlight pitfalls in advocacy campaigns (on both sides), and possibly establish dialogue that could produce better policy outcomes.

Actually I was talking about a management conference for execs who work for trade/business associations. Annual is way too lopsided in favor of professional society issues. Trades and IMOs have different operational issues and, often, very different viewpoints about priorities. I understand that there are more IMOs than trade associations, which is why I think a niche event would be a good idea.

I am with you, it would help to have a little trade assoc. knowledge at ASAE.
Hope to meet you at Ft. Worth, or next year in Toronto
