Sneak Peek Book Launch and DC Blogger Gathering
Posted by Kevin | Print This Article
My friend, DC’s own Debbie Weil, is holding a “sneak peek” book launch for The Corporate Blogging Book on July 25 at the 4th Estate in DC. The book itself isn’t being published until August 3, which is why she’s calling this a “sneak peek.” It’s hosted by Fleishman-Hilliard at 4:30 and should be a fun gathering of local bloggers, including lots of association bloggers like NAM’s Pat Cleary. (Including Pat and me in her blog entry announcing the event is proof that Debbie is a nice person and a fine writer but a poor judge of character.)
Actually, it’s going to be a lot of fun and I hope to see lots of you there. It’s a good excuse for those of us who blog in DC to get out from behind our desks and meet each other.
And if you’re still considering the how and why of blogging for your organization, then you definitely should stop by and make plans to grab the book when it comes out. I had the privilege of reading an advance copy of Debbie’s book and thought, “Wow, it’s about time someone wrote this book!” (And not just because she mentioned our organization a couple times in the slower parts.) It gets beyond the usual inflated hype and offers excellent advice for organizations, from their point of view, as to how social media can make a difference (and be made to work). (I liked the book so much I even gave Debbie a blurb for it, though I have no idea why she wanted one from me … you can actually see it on the lefthand side of this page if you scroll far, far below the ones from the people whose opinions actually mean something.)
Hope to see you there!
Kevin, I’m totally bummed because I will be out of town. I’d love to be there and meet Debbie.
Thanks for the tip, Kevin - your blog is one I recommend often to our association clients as a great resource for ideas and strategic thinking. Being a local DC blogger (and one of the few like yourself that doesn’t focus on politics!) - I will definitely try to make it to this. I’m looking forward to meeting you in person, and also getting a sneak peak at Debbie’s new project, as I’ve been a reader of her blog for some time now as well.
Jeff: Sorry you can’t make it!
Rohit: Hope you can make it and look forward to meeting you!
You are too funny… and I beg to differ. I consider myself a great judge of character. Kevin, you’re definitely a corporate blogging star and I’ll continue to say that til you turn beet red. Well maybe you already have. Oh, and your blurb is in the book itself! I received a box of books from the publisher today and there you are on page 2.
P.S. Rohit, I look forward to meeting you!
