Kevin, I would appreciate it if you could please elaborate. What makes it tacky in your view? Is it the cruise part? As someone who has taken a few cruises, I can say that they are very fun and often quite elegant. Is it the idea that bloggers would go on a cruise that you find tacky? Some very expensive CME, CLE and other educational programs are held on cruise ships. I went on a cruise in the spring of 2005 (as a speaker for an association holding a conference at sea) and I noticed that Johns Hopkins Medical School was conducting a CME session on board. It’s a fun way to combine a family vacation with a high value learning opportunity.

As you can tell, I’m pushing back a little bit. So I’m hoping you can say more about what you find tacky about the blogging cruise. To be truthful, I was thinking about whether I might be able to do it. It sounds interesting to me and they have lined up some great people. But if it’s tacky, maybe I shouldn’t. What do you think?

Ah, Jeff, I was just being cranky. I’ve always hated the idea of cruise meetings in general because I prefer to be somewhere I can make a quick getaway. Other people like them. Que sera sera.

I’m with Kevin in spirit on this one. I couldn’t imagine a worse hell than being trapped on a ship for four days and having everyone on board talking about blogging.

I’d rather be eaten by the sharks.

And I’ve been blogging religiously going on four years. It doesn’t make me more interesting.
